They Call it Idleness
A novel
A houseman on the edge of a nervous breakdown
Outside the city, life moves on quietly – unless you are the »master of three children«, like Alexander Posch’s alter ego. His wife earns the money while he makes conker animals in a Hamburg suburb, disposes of dead blackbirds, and attempts to escape his frayed existence. All the time, he is accompanied by the big essential question: Is that it? Every day, the challenged family father finds new, bizarre strategies to defy the inferno – »Carry on« isn’t written on the T-shirt he sleeps in for nothing. Laconically and wittily, Alexander Posch describes the nagging feeling of missed opportunities and great longing for a different life. Literary fun par excellence!
Alexander Posch was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1968. After travelling though Australia and the CIS, he became an importer of Ural motorbikes, a room waiter in a 4-star hotel, and a history student, among other things. The father of three lives in Hamburg and works as a writer, literary promoter (for the famous Hamburger Machtclub, among others), and presenter.
